MOGAS Power Operated Relief Valve(PORV)

MOGAS PORV is a pneumatically actuated pressure relief valve designed to eliminate dangerous overpressure buildup within process systems. Its set pressure is calibrated lower than spring-type safety valves, minimizing or eliminating safety valve pops and extending their service lifespan. MOGAS supplies PORVs in two configurations: non-stamped units and models certified with the National Board “V” stamp. The “V”-stamped PORVs undergo official flow capacity certification issued by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.The PORV functions as an integrated control system. The MOGAS ball valve remains closed under normal operating conditions. A pressure transmitter monitors steam pressure; once pressure exceeds the preset threshold, its internal electrical contact closes to energize the solenoid valve. Pressurized air is then fed into the actuator’s open port to stroke the ball valve open for pressure relief. After steam pressure drops back to the normal range, the pressure switch’s contact opens, de-energizing the solenoid and allowing the MOGAS ball valve to close automatically.
